The 2023-2024 Ghana Premier League season has come to a conclusion with a sweeping number of surprises particularly on the final day of competition.

FC Samartex 1996 confirmed their title win a fortnight ago to clinch its debut league title in only its second season competing at the top level after gaining promotion from Division One just last season.

The Samreboi based team beat Accra Lions 2-0 in the final round of league games to crown the memorable moment they lifted the cup with a win. Samartex will represent Ghana in next season’s CAF Champions League.

Surprisingly, Accra Lions ended the campaign in second place despite the loss to Samartex in what has been a brilliant second half of the season performance from the young side that flirted with relegation last season and early part of this season.

Berekum Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Kpando Heart of Lions denied them second place and had to settle for third place tied on 51 points with Accra Lions but with an inferior goal difference.

Chelsea striker Stephen Amankonah scored twice in the draw to cement his place as the top goal scorer for the season with 19 goals.
