England and Manchester United youngster Kobbie Mainoo has opened up on his mind state when he was faced with the decision of picking between representing Ghana or England.
The 19 year old who was born in England to Ghanaian parents enjoyed a breakout season under United manager Erik Ten Hag making appearances 32 appearances in all competitions and scoring 5 goals during the campaign.
His stellar performances drew attention from both the Ghana and England Football Associations with Mainoo opting to represent the latter.
Following his competitive debut for England in their 1 – 0 Euro 2024 opener against Serbia he opened up on what informed his decision.
“Obviously I’m proud of my Ghanaian heritage and there was speculation and what not but It has always been a dream to play for England so I’m happy to be here.
I considered but I want to play for England.” he said in an interview with Sky Sports”.
