Bankroller of Access Bank Division One League side, Skyy FC, Wilson Arthur, believes that talent quality in depth made the difference for FC Samartex 1996 in the 2023-2024 Ghana Premier League season.

Samartex won the league title with two games to spare after beating Bibiani Gold Stars 1-0 to establish a nine-point lead over second placed Aduana Stars. Samartex gained promotion to the elite division last season.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports following the win, Wilson Arthur congratulated the team and alluded to the win as a resurgence of talented footballers in the Western part of Ghana. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

He doubled down on this stating, “It’s the quality of the talents they have. The quality of the pool of talent that they have, that is making the difference.”

“You see other teams, you see about four, five, six good players but when you look at the Samartex team, there is quality in depth. They’ve done very well, they are well paid, well catered for.”

Samartex take on Karela United and Accra Lions to close out the historic season.
