Black Stars defender Tariq Lamptey believes new Black Stars teammate Solomon Brandon Thomas-Asante has settled in “really well” in the team after receiving his debut call up to Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team.
He said this in an interview with the Ghana Football Association’s media ahead of Ghana’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Mali and Central African Republic (CAR) this month.
Ghana take on Mali on Thursday, June 6 in Bamako ranked fifth in Group I before facing CAR on Monday, June 10 at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
Thomas-Asante was called up to Black Stars head coach Otto Addo’s 26 man squad for the first time after committing his international career to Ghana.
According to the Brighton and Hove Albion player, Thomas-Asante, who scored 12 goals in 43 games for West Bromwich Albion in teh 2023-2024 season, has settled well in camp.
“He’s settled in really well, he seems to be enjoying himself. He’s a good finisher and he works hard for the team so hopefully we can have good results with him.”
Tariq Lamptey is set to play with the Black Stars for the first time since playing for Ghana at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. He has missed significant time due to injury.
