Real Tamale United (RTU) Football Club has apologized for allegedly misconducting itself in an outstanding league game against Dreams FC in the 2023-2024 Ghana Premier League season.

The club issued a statement apologizing for its alleged use of unregistered players to honour the game that ended in an 8-1 RTU loss. Dreams FC forward Agyenim Boateng Mensah scored five goals in the game with the win all but cementing Dreams FC’s stay in the Ghana League.

Following the wave of criticism over the eye popping game result’s integrity, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) charged the Tamale based club for alleged player impersonation.

In the statement released by the club, the Tamale outfit confirmed that it had responded to the charges; The club’s relegation from the elite division was confirmed little over a week ago.

“The club, however, courts for mercy and sympathy from the general public and the GFA as we strive to reorganise and build a team that all of us will be proud of. We express our regret again and that this will never happen again. The club is SORRY” a portion of the statement reads.
