Ghana’s National Women’s Football Team, the Black Queens, have suffered a 4-0 hammering at the hands of Japan in an international friendly game in the Asian country.

Despite losing veteran defender Portia Boakye in the 23rd minute to a red card, Ghana held on to draw goalless at the end of the first half.

However, Ghana lost its way in the second half to concede four goals with the first coming in the 51st minute via 30 year old Mina Tanaka’s finish.

Maika Hamano of Chelsea assisted Tanaka’s goal and both women combined to get Japan’s second goal with Hamano scoring off an assist from Tanaka.

Aoba Fujino scored in the 67th minute and Riko Ueki rounded up Japan’s drubbing of Ghana with a goal in the 80th minute.

The game is the first of a handful of international friendly games lined up for the Black Queens in preparation for the 2025 Women’s AFCON in Morocco.
