Head coach of Ghana’s Under-17 National Women’s Football Team (the Black Maidens), Joe Nana Adarkwa, has commended his team for their performance against Brazil despite missing out on a win.
Ghana drew 3-3 with the South American nation with the game’s lead exchanged on multiple occasions in the high scoring contest.
The Maidens headed into the game on the back of losing 3-0 to Norway in the opening round and battled well to clinch the draw thanks to substitute Priscilla Mensah’s goal in the 85th minute after stepping off the bench.
Speaking to FIFA after the game, Nana Adarkwa bemoaned his team’s wastefulness in front of goal to win the game but was impressed with the overall output.

“We did very well. We are in one of the toughest groups, but I’m proud of my girls.”

“After equalising we had so many chances, but they are young, they are learning, so we have a lot to do with the girls but I’m happy for them.”

“We are like them, but Brazil are up there. We are getting stronger and we will get there” Adarkwa said.

Ghana take on Canada in their final Group C game on Saturday, October 24.
