Black Stars celebrate win over Mali in Bamako

Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo, is adamant that the Black Stars have the belief to qualify from Group F of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

The qualification groups for the upcoming AFCON was confirmed on Thursday, July 4 by Africa’s football governing, CAF, in the wake of the draw. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

The top two nations in each group progress automatically to next year’s AFCON in Morocco after a round robin slate of games.

The upcoming AFCON runs from December 21 to January 18, 2026 with Cote D’Ivoire as defending champions.

Speaking in the aftermath of Ghana getting drawn against Angola, Sudan and Niger, Otto Addo expressed confidence in Ghana’s chances of making it to the competition.

“Surely we believe in ourselves to qualify from this group but it’s going to be tough. All the other teams find it tough to play against Niger so it’s going to be tough for us as well. In all these matches, we have to be 100% to beat everyone.”

“There is no small team in Africa. You saw that at the last AFCON…we have the quality to beat all of them but it’s going to be close and it’s going to be tough.”
