Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Pius Hadzide, has stated that the construction of the flagship Youth Resources Centres have delayed due to some challenges leading to an increase in the price of goods.

He said this in a meeting with the media in the presence of Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif and Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Evans Bobie Opoku, to address pressing sports related issues.

Striking a similar tone to that of Honourable Mustapha Ussif, the NYA CEO pointed to financial issues leading to the delay in completion of some of the centres. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“We are hopeful that within the coming months, we should commission the five other projects and then we can put them to use. On the issue of the cost, we are in the process as I’m sure you all know the Phase Two contract was signed sometime in 2020 and due to some challenges which has a background…the work was delayed so we have had to do a variation because the prices of things have changed.”

“We are in the process to complete the variations so I prefer that we can wait for those processes to terminate and then we can put the real cost. Very soon the variations would have been approved by the Public Procurement Authority.”

The NYA and Ministry of Youth and Sports have attracted a ton of criticism over seemingly neglecting the near completed projects the edifices suffering significant damage.
