Gambian sports journalist, Amadou Tamba, has spoken glowingly about Brighton and Hove Albion’s left footed winger Yankuba Minteh.

He said this in an exclusive interview with Channel One Sports in the wake of the 19 year old’s 33 million pounds transfer to The Seagulls.

Minteh joined Brighton from Newcastle but spent the 2023-2024 season with Dutch side Feyenoord and won the Dutch Cup.

After describing the move as a good one for the youngster who registered 11 goals and six assists in 37 appearances in all competitions, Tamba spoke on the qualities Minteh takes to Brighton. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“He is very pacey, very skillful, a good goal scorer, a very intelligent young player…an absolute tricky winger who is very much confident. One thing that I love most about his game is that he doesn’t look back as a winger, in one v one situations he is very confident that he can get past any marker and go on to get goals for his team.”

He added, “Another important aspect in his game is the high pressing. He has a lot of intensity in his game. Whenever he loses the ball, he helps the team regain the ball as quick as possible…Minteh is very much vital without the ball.”

Minteh will be in direct competition with Ghana’s Ibrahim Osman.
