Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has stressed the importance of players with dual nationality switching early to the Black Stars.
The technical lead for Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team made this known at a presser where he announced the Black Stars squad for upcoming 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
Responding to a question about the prospect of British born players of Ghanaian descent, Eddie Nketiah and Callum Hudson-Odoi, playing for the Black Stars, Otto Addo stated,
“Before we played against Nigeria in 2022, I was after them and they said they needed time. They are still not here but the door is always open. To be honest, I think players who want to join the national team should come quite early to get familiar with me, with the team, with the players, with Ghana as such and not before a tournament. This is the only point where I say door is closed. So, they (Nketiah and Hudson-Odoi) are always welcome.”

Ghana take on Angola on September 5 in Kumasi and Niger on September 9 in Morocco. Scroll down to watch video.
Don’t express interest in playing for Ghana before major tournaments…
When asked about the chances of Callum Hudson-Odoi & Eddie Nketiah playing for the #BlackStars Otto Addo said the door is open to every eligible player, but he also issued a stern warning.
