Kpando Heart of Lions head coach, Bashir Hayford, is touting his coaching experience as his team continues preparation for the start of the 2024-2025 Ghana Premier League season.
In an exclusive interview with ChannelOne Sports, the veteran coach spoke extensively about his coaching credentials with his team set to play Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club in the Gbese Mants3 Cup on Sunday, August 11 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The friendly encounter forms part of the preseason schedule for both teams ahead of the new season and doubles as a game to preach peace ahead of Ghana’s Presidential and Parliamentary Elections in December.
Hayford returned to the Ghana Premier League after foreign stints to save Heart of Lions from getting relegated and the former Kotoko and AshGold coach believes he still has more to give.
“I’m still alive, I’m still working, I’m still green. When I came back from Somalia, I decided to rest for a season. People wrote them (Heart of Lions) off that they are gone… so I took the challenge and I was able to sustain them in the Premiership. It has given us the experience to thrive on, the experience to see what we can do to not enter into the same situation again.”
“It will let Ghanaians know I’m still coaching, I’m still strong, I still have the knowledge, my knowledge now is so pure that I have matured with the knowledge.”
