The latest twist in the saga involving Ghana defender Daniel Amartey and Turkish Super League side Besiktas has fans of the club calling on Amartey to get out of the club.

Amartey is among a handful of players including former Arsenal and Liverpool player Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain at Besiktas who fans want out after failing to impress at the club.

29 year old Amartey joined the club in July 2023 following Leicester City’s relegation to the EFL Championship from the English Premier League and his contract is set to expire in 2026.

After playing 27 games across all competitions in the 2023-2024 season, Amartey’s future has come under heavy scrutiny in the wake of Besiktas spokesperson Huseyin Yucel’s revelation about a failed transfer.

According to Yucel, Amartey is a “strange person” who rejected a move to a Saudi Arabia club and “escaped through the back door of our facilities”.

Yucel added that Amartey was pushing for a move to Germany or England but when he was informed that the transfer window had been closed, Amartey was in disbelief stating “how will it close?”

However, Amartey has come out to deny such allegations stating that, “They’re completely untrue. Nothing like that happened. Those allegations should be disregarded.”

In the midst of this controversy, Besiktas fans have taken to X (formerly Twitter) to express their willingness to see the back of the Black Stars defender who played at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Ghana defender Daniel Amartey has rubbished claims by Besiktas official that he refused to leave the club & escaped through the back door in the process of completing a deal.
