Defending Ghana Premier League Champions FC Samartex 1996, have commenced their title defence on a solid note after playing out a goalless draw.
Samartex drew 0-0 with Dreams FC at the Accra Sports Stadium in one of two games to kickstart the 2024-2025 Ghana Premier League season.
The Samreboi based side had the better of the exchanges in the second half scoring a 61% possession advantage after having just 36% of possession in the first half.
Samartex fared better in the second half largely down to Collins Buah’s red card in the 70th minute after picking up his second yellow card.
Despite creating scoring chances, Samartex’s forwards including the in-form Emmanuel Mamah, couldn’t get past Gidios Aseako in post for Dreams.
At the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex, GPL debutants, Vision FC, drew goalless with Berekum Chelsea in a game that didn’t have too many clear scoring chances and had only a measly total count of four corner kicks were attempted in the game.
The biggest chance fell to Kusi Asante in the second half whose close range shot attempt was saved by Chelsea goalkeeper Gregory Obeng-Sekyere.
