Athletic Bilbao winger Alvaro Djalo has described scoring his debut goal for Athletic Bilbao as a gift given to him by Black Stars forward Inaki Williams.
He said this in an interview after scoring in the 80th minute to round up a 3-1 win for Bilbao over Celta Vigo in a La Liga fixture.
Djalo’s goal was assisted by Ghana’s Inaki Williams who used his speed to get past a Celta defender on the right side before his cross was nodded home by the 25 year old Djalo.
Speaking after the game, Djalo was happy to score for his childhood club and thanked Williams for assisting the goal.
“I am very happy especially for contributing my first goal with my childhood club. The first thing I did was run and hug Inaki (Williams) for the gift he has given me and I’m very happy.”
This marked Inaki Williams’ fourth assist in three games after the Black Stars player got three assists in Bilbao’s 3-2 win over Las Palmas.
The 30 year old forward has seen an uptick in form since playing for Ghana in 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
