Black Stars forward Brandon Thomas-Asante has described his second goal of the 2024-2025 season as bittersweet. He said this after scoring in Coventry City’s 2-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspurs in the Carabao Cup.
Thomas-Asante’s second goal since joining Coventry City came in the 63rd minute and looked good enough to send Coventry through to the fourth round of the competition.
However, Spurs scored two late goals through Djed Spence in the 88th minute and Brennan Johnson in the 92nd minute to bag the win and qualify to the next round.
Thomas-Asante calmly tucked the ball into the bottom left side of the goal to finish off a brilliant move by Coventry.
Speaking after the game, the former West Bromwich Albion player praised his team but noted the disappointment of missing out on a win.
“Winning games and scoring is what I want to be doing and I wanted a good performance coming into this game. So, I am happy to get on the scoresheet. Obviously, it is bittersweet because we wanted to come out of it victorious. It is a tough one to take.”

Coventry City ranked 14th in the EFL Championship standings and take on Swansea City on Saturday, September 21. Scroll down to watch Thomas-Asante’s goal against Tottenham Hotspurs.
