In the wake of the Baba Yara Stadium ban by CAF in a move that rules Ghana out to host games for the Black Stars 2025 AFCON qualifiers, Dr. Tony Aubynn believes the newly built TNA Stadium in Tarkwa would have been an alternative had the edifice met the Category 3 Game requirement.
Category 3 games require the host venue to seat at least 30,000 spectators and the TNA Stadium seats a little over 10,000 fans.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with ChannelOne Sports, the Medeama SC Board Chairman and former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council Member expressed disappointment over the ban and added that,
“At the moment in the country, I believe that it (the TNA) is the best stadium. Unfortunately, the size is not up to the level that we could go and play the African Cup (qualifiers) there. Otherwise, in the current challenge that we have, we would have suggested that they go to Tarkwa and play.”
Ghana takes on Sudan in back to back 2025 AFCON qualification games on October 11 and October 15.
