Ghana defender Mohammed Salisu was ruled out of featuring in AS Monaco’s UEFA Champions League game against Red Star Belgrade (Crvena Zvedza) due to injury. Monaco won 5-1.
The former Southampton player is dealing with a knock and this marks his second game in a row he has missed after not featuring in Monaco’s Ligue 1 goalless draw against Lille.
Salisu scored in Monaco’s 2-2 draw with Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia in the previous Champions League tie with the goal marking his debut for the 2024-2025 campaign.
The 25 year old was taken off injured late in Ghana’s 2-0 loss to Sudan in a 2025 AFCON qualifier in Libya; Salisu played out the entire duration of Ghana’s goalless draw against Sudan in Accra in the double header.
He grabbed the back of his thigh sparking fears he pulled a hamstring in his attempt to make a clearance in the second half.
Salisu wasn’t included in the seven man defensive unit that had Ivorian international Wilfried Singo and Thilo Kehrer start as the centre backs.
The group to face @crvenazvezda_en! 💪
