Ghana defender Alidu Seidu has been ruled out for the rest of the 2024-2025 season after suffering a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament.
The serious injury happened in the 18th minute in the French Ligue 1 game between Seidu’s Stade Rennes and Lille with Seidu collapsing to the turf before getting treatment and leaving the game.
Seidu’s injury was reported by French football outlet, GetFrenchFootball with Stade Rennes confirming the news on their official website.
The injury has marred what looked to be an outstanding campaign for the 24 year old Seidu who was one of the best players at the struggling club after joining from Clermont Foot before the start of the season.
He won Rennes’ Player of the Month Award in September and has played 11 games in the league. Rennes’ official statement empathized with Seidu stating, “Good luck Alidu, the whole Stade Rennais F.C. is with you. Come back even stronger.”
The Black Stars defender featured in Ghana’s 2025 AFCON qualifier against Angola that had the Black Stars draw 1-1 to officially miss out on qualifying to the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
Fellow Black Stars player, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, recently suffered a season ACL injury.
