Co-founder of Spintex Knights Basketball Club, Dr. Eric Opoku-Antwi, believes that high level competitiveness between the club and arch rivals Nungua Coldstore was the reason behind low scores involving the clubs.
He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports after Knights clinched the 2024 Accra Basketball League title after sweeping Coldstore in the best of three games series.
The title is the second in a row for Knights with both title wins coming via victories over Coldstore and for Dr. Opoku-Antwi, he attributed the low scoring games to the intense rivalry between the two teams.
“I believe it is just mere competitiveness because they will not back down when they play us, we also won’t back down when we play them so I will attribute that to the fighting spirit and competitiveness from both sides.”

Winning the ABL title underlined a successful season for Knights with Spintex making history by becoming the first Ghana club to qualify to compete at the Elite 16 stage of the Basketball Africa League.
