The 2024 President’s Cup Championship concluded in grand style, with Ahmad Abdul-Samad and Rachael Quarcoo emerging victorious in the men’s and women’s singles finals.
The two-day tournament, held at the Borteyman Sports Complex, showcased intense competition among some of the best badminton talents in the country.
Players competed fiercely for the ultimate trophy across multiple categories.
Day 1 Highlights:
The tournament began on Thursday, December 27, with preliminary rounds in the men’s and women’s singles divisions and exciting matches in the men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles categories.
Day 2 Climax:
The finals, held on Friday, delivered thrilling action and top-tier performances. In the women’s singles final, top seed Rachael Quarcoo outplayed second seed Moslena Ama Koramah Adu to claim the championship title.
In the men’s singles final, top seed Ahmad Abdul-Samad showcased his prowess, defeating Andy Amofa in an electrifying match to maintain his top-seed status.

- Men’s Doubles: Ahmad Abdul-Samad / Ebenezer Kwame Korampong defeated Obapomba Adu-Mintah / Andy Amofa.
- Women’s Doubles: Prospera Nantuo / Rabiatu Naa Ayorkor Ofoli overcame Charity Naah / Hilda Hectornia Napour Yengnone.
- Mixed Doubles: Moslena Ama Koramah Adu / Obapomba Adu-Mintah bested Rachael Quarcoo / Daniel Quarcoo to secure the title.
Ceremonial Match and Remarks:
During the ceremonial match held on the centre court, Ghana Badminton Association (GBA) President Mr. Evans Yeboah praised the competitive spirit displayed by the athletes throughout the tournament.
“We’ve had the pleasure of witnessing the best players from across the country. This event is truly prestigious as it reflects the year-long efforts and dedication of these athletes,” he said.
Mr. Yeboah added that the tournament served as an avenue to identify new talent and strengthen the national team ahead of the busy 2025 calendar.
