Dutch international wing back of Ghanaian descent Jeremie Frimpong has stated that the ambitions of the German club is to avoid being a one season wonder after shocking the world to win the Bundesliga title for the first time.
Leverkusen delivered an excellent 2023-2024 season by winning the German top flight with an unbeaten record while toppling German giants Bayern Munich in the process.
The Xabi Alonso led team also won the German Cup but lost 3-0 to Atalanta in the Europa League to miss out on a historic treble winning campaign.
Speaking in an interview with Citi Sports on his arrival in Ghana for the Christmas holidays, the 24 year old indicated that winning the Bundesliga again is on the mind of Leverkusen players.
“Last season was great, what we did for Leverkusen we created history for the first time…and now because we are champions we want to keep the consistency. We don’t want to be known as a one season wonder…so we want the consistency.”

Frimpong has two goals and four assists in 15 Bundesliga games this season. Scroll down to watch Jeremie Frimpong interview.
