Former Executive Council Member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Samuel Anim Addo, has expressed confidence in President John Dramani Mahama’s ability to appoint a capable candidate to rejuvenate football in the country.
The President has started appointing ministers for his government, including one for the recently established Ministry of Sports and Recreation, which is expected to be filled within 120 days.
Speaking to Citi Sports, Anim Addo emphasized President Mahama’s keen interest in sports and his commitment to revitalizing the sector through experienced leadership.
“Honestly, in the wisdom of the President, who is, I can tell you, the most experienced politician now, in the helm of affairs. He was even an Assemblyman, Deputy Minister, Minister, Vice President, President, former President, and back as President. This is unprecedented .He has all the wisdom. He has all the knowledge.
He loves football and he loves sports. We saw him at the (Bukom) Boxing Arena and I’m believing he will give us someone who will come and support our football and take us to the next level.
The new ministry is seen as a crucial step in addressing the challenges facing sports in Ghana, including the decline in football infrastructure, development programs, and overall performance on the international stage.
