A former Ghana international, Tanko is regarded as one of the most exciting coaches in the country. He brings a wealth of experience, high standards of excellence, strong leadership, and a winning mentality to the club.

Nicknamed the ‘Bullet,’ Tanko joins the Mauve and Yellow after his stint with Premier League side Accra Lions, where he served as a coach and technical advisor.

The former Borussia Dortmund forward boasts extensive coaching experience, having worked in Japan’s J-League and the German Bundesliga. He has also held assistant coaching roles with Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions, Ghana’s Black Meteors, and the Black Galaxies.

Tanko will observe the team’s training session on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at the Akoon Community Park before officially taking charge on Thursday.

His first match as Medeama head coach will be against Legon Cities on Sunday, February 3, 2025, at the TnA Stadium.
