Minister Designate for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams, has emphasized the importance of diversifying income streams for various sports disciplines under the newly created Sports and Recreation Ministry.

He believes that having multiple sources of income is crucial for sustainability and growth. This approach aligns with previous discussions in parliament, where concerns about financial stability in sports were raised which he believes will help realize  his goal of diversifying income streams to the various sports disciplines

I think that is already being looked at. I remember in parliament issues were raised about this. The only unfortunate thing is that we couldn’t take the report of the committee that went into looking into areas of the sports before the 8th Parliament was terminated.”

Honourable Adams suggests proceeding with caution, ensuring that all processes are followed before implementing any new strategies.

This includes exploring how new statutes and laws that can contribute to the financial health of sports disciplines and reviewing old ones i.e. Committee reports.

The 9th Parliament is back and we will see what we can do about that report. Whether it will be re-tabled or it could be referred to the committee again and then they will look at it and they submit. So we are not ruling out anything so let’s go through the processes first. Let’s settle and then we’ll see what we need and what will come out of the new technology.”
