Basketball Africa League (BAL) Vice President, John Manyo-Plange, has pointed to the need to bring professionalism to basketball in Ghana.

He said this in an interview in the wake of the BAL’s Celebrity Game held at the Sports Emporium at Bukom to climax the institution’s second major event in Ghana.

The Celebrity Game had the likes of African Basketball legend Carlos Morais, Two Time Olympic Gold Medal Winner Angel McCoughtry, and Ghanaian musicians Joey B and Lil Shaker compete in the fun game.

Speaking after the fun filled contest, Manyo-Plange, the long tenured basketball administrator, called for the need to get basketball to a professional status in Ghana.

“We’ve been doing (grassroots) programs here for the last couple of years…and now we have to continue to build and develop that and I think this celebrity game is a chance for us to really build on that.”

“I think the next step is for us to then bring professionalism to basketball here but in order to that, we need more facilities, we need to have a professional indoor venue that the BAL can come here and play actual games here.”
