Sports Psychology Lecturer at the University of Ghana, Dr. Collins Agyemang Badu, says he is happy that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has finally appointed a psychologist for Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team, the Black Stars.

Belgian psychologist Kris Perquy, has been appointed as the Black Stars psychologist after several calls were made for the team to get one in the midst of a terrible run that has had Ghana exit the AFCON in back to back editions and completely miss out on qualifying to the 2025 AFCON.

Perquy’s appointment was one of a handful of high profile changes made to Otto Addo’s back room staff; veteran German coach Winfried Schafer and Black Satellites coach Desmond Ofei were named as Black Stars Technical Advisor and Black Stars Assistant Coach respectively.

“I am happy that at least, after nudging and nudging some of the leadership, now they have appreciated the need for a psychologist; for me that acknowledgement alone is good.”

“For me, it is positive, the thought of bringing a psychologist on board the team” Dr. Collins Badu said in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports.
