Mo Kudus will be Black Stars captain eventually but let it be smooth- Sulley Muntari

Black Stars legend Sulley Muntari has pegged Ghana midfielder Mohammed Kudus as captain of Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team in the near future but cautioned for the process to be smooth.

He added that the West Ham midfielder is just scratching the surface of his tremendous talent and is bound to do big thigs as he matures.

Speaking in an interview on TV3, Muntari waded into the sticky Black Stars captaincy issue that has turned particularly chaotic under Otto Addo.

Kudus was named captain by Addo ahead of a double header against Sudan in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers but Jordan Ayew took over the role to see out Ghana’s failed qualifiers.

Thomas Partey and Alexander Djiku have served as Black Stars captains in recent years but for Muntari, Kudus will inevitably be the Black Stars captain but shouldn’t be rushed into it.

“Kudus no matter what, he’s going to be the captain of the national team one day. Let it be smooth for him, don’t just rush him. He doesn’t even need the band… let him just enjoy his football. Kudus hasn’t fully realized his potential yet. What we are seeing are just flashes (of how great he can be). That guy, he is just amazing.”

Kudus is competing in his second season at West Ham.
