Black Stars: Abdul Mumin to miss rest of 2024-2025 season to injury

Ghana defender Abdul Mumin Sulemana is set to miss the rest of the 2024-2025 season due to a left knee he picked up this past weekend.

Sulemana left Rayo Vallecano’s 1-1 draw with Sevilla in a La Liga game in the 35th minute after feeling discomfort in his knee after making a challenge.

In the immediate aftermath of the game, Rayo head coach Inigo Perez stated that more tests needed to be run to determine the extent of Mumin’s injury. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

However, Sergio Nava of Union Rayo, has stated that Mumin’s left knee injury will have miss the rest of the campaign.

26 year old Mumin has been one of Rayo and the La Liga’s best defenders has two goals and an assist in 24 appearances this season.

Mumin’s strong performances have powered Rayo to seventh place in the La Liga standings at the time of writing and firmly in the hunt to qualify to compete in an European competition. He leads La Liga in blocked shots.

The latest development also means that Mumin will miss Ghana Black Stars 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification games against Chad and Madagascar on March 21 and 24 respectively.
