Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum, issued a directive to journalists at a pre-game press conference to avoid asking questions about the Black Stars failure to qualify to the 2025 AFCON.
He said this at a presser organized on March 20 ahead of Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad on Friday, March 21 at the Accra Sports Stadium at 19:00 GMT.
The upcoming clash is the first game for the Black Stars after failing to qualify to the AFCON in 20 years; in six qualification games, Ghana failed to win a single game and ended the qualification campaign with a loss at the Baba Yara Stadium for the first time in 24 years.
Speaking to journalists in the early parts of the presser that had Black Stars head coach Otto Addo present, Henry Asante Twum directed journalists to ask only questions related to the 2026 World Cup qualification.

“This press conference is specifically on the FIFA World Cup qualifiers. We do not want to have anything to do with the AFCON qualifiers which ended in November [2024], let’s stick strictly to the World Cup qualifiers” he said before Otto Addo addressed the gathering.
