FA Cup: Manchester City stage comeback to beat Bournemouth and reach semis

Manchester City produced a spirited second-half comeback to defeat Bournemouth 2-1, securing a spot in the FA Cup semi-finals, where they will face Nottingham Forest.

Bournemouth started brightly at the Vitality Stadium and capitalized on a costly mistake from Matheus Nunes, whose misplaced pass gifted the hosts possession. Justin Kluivert’s effort was eventually turned in by Evanilson, giving Andoni Iraola’s side a deserved lead.

City had chances to equalize in the first half, but Erling Haaland was denied from the penalty spot by Kepa Arrizabalaga and later missed a one-on-one opportunity. Bournemouth’s intensity and high tempo kept them ahead at halftime, prompting Pep Guardiola to make a tactical adjustment.

Guardiola introduced Nico O’Reilly, and the young substitute made an immediate impact, driving forward and setting up Haaland’s equalizer, his 29th goal of the season. However, Haaland’s night ended early after a collision with Steve Cook, which saw him turn his ankle and crash into an advertising board.

City kept pushing, and their relentless pressure paid off as they sealed the comeback victory, booking their place in the last four of the competition.
