Addressing this issue on the floor of Ghana’s Parliament, Dominic Nitiwul, who is a former Minister of Defence, called for more money to be allocated to the Ministry.
“I think leadership should take up this matter and find a way of varying some money somewhere and put it here [undertaking sports infrastructure]. We cannot increase the budget but we can vary, we can re-allocate so by the time we are going to do the appropriation, we should find some money and make sure that this [Sports] Ministry has some capital expenditure to be able to undertake all the projects they want to take. It’s a very important Ministry” Nitiwul said and added that

“The Sports Minister should be supported. I want to see the Sports Minister get some capital expenditure and can spend. We cannot leave it to the discretion of the Finance Minister or the President [of Ghana] to say we will do it but it should be there so that he knows that it is there and plans towards [using] it.”
