Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club head coach, Dr. Prosper Ogum, has stated that it hasn’t been easy for the team to overcome the passing of popular Kotoko fan Francis Yaw “Nana Pooley” Frimpong.

He said this in a post-game interview after Kotoko beat Legon Cities 2-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium following the Ghana Premier League’s resumption.

The league was suspended after Pooley died from stab wounds he suffered when violent clashes erupted during Kotoko’s clash with Nsoatreman at Nsoatre.

Pooley was buried on March 6 and before the start of the game, Kotoko players displayed a banner paying their last respect to Pooley.

The win over Legon Cities moves Kotoko to the summit of the league and in his opening remarks, Dr. Ogum reflected on Pooley’s passing stating,

Francis Yaw “Pooley” Frimpong

“It has not been easy if you look at how associated we are all to Pooley. It has not been easy trying to overcome it-his death-. Sometimes, it looks like it’s a dream but it’s a reality. It was very difficult to overcome if you look at the body language of the players, it wasn’t that pleasant and it was a sad body language that they exhibited throughout.”

Kumasi Asante Kotoko head coach Dr. Prosper Ogum

“I felt it some much today when we were doing the minute silence…so may he rest in peace.”
