Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has dismissed the claim made by his immediate predecessor Dr. Amin Adam that the previous administration never collected betting tax.

Dr. Forson said this in a wide ranging interview on ChannelOne TV’s “The Point of View” while giving a breakdown on the National Budget he presented to Ghana’s Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic on Tuesday, March 11.

In his speech, Dr. Forson indicated that the 10% tax that is deducted from individual winnings witnessed under the previous administration, will be abolished by the National Democratic Congress-led government.

However, in a response to the budget presentation immediately after the presentation on the floor of Ghana’s Parliament, immediate past Finance Minister Dr. Amin Adam, refuted this claim by stating that the then New Patriotic Party-led administration never collected Betting Tax.
