The Member of Parliament for Berekum West Constituency, Dickson Kyere Duah, is backing calls for only top level venues to host Ghana Premier League games even if that means reducing the number of host venues to five or six.
He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports in the aftermath of the Ghana League’s return following a multiple week suspension stemming from the death of Kumasi Asante Kotoko supporter Francis Pooley Frimpong at Nsoatreman FC’s league venue.
Honourable Kyere Duah believes that only infrastructure that ensures safety measures are upheld, are the only ones that should host league games.
“Facilities that are not fit for purpose should not be allowed to host matches. When you are talking about security, the stadium architecture, the structure also contributes to security on its own so if you have stadia facilities that are not fit for purpose, the rules should not be bent.”

If we have 18 Premier Clubs and only six, seven, eight centres are fit for purpose, other teams should be compelled to move to such facilities. These things are issues we need to enforce.”

At the time of writing, Kotoko, lead the standings with 42 points, a point ahead of arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak.
