Founder of Africa Tennis Connect Foundation, Naa Shika Adu, is advocating for sports to be part of young individuals growing up.
She made this call in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports on the backdrop of the Foundation’s Street Tennis Program that was organized on International Women’s Day.
Africa Tennis Connect Foundation held the program in collaboration with female basketball players from DUNK Grassroots at Agege, where she highlighted the need to make tennis more accessible before calling for sports to be part of the development stage of Ghanaian individuals.
“Women sports in Ghana amongst social players (18 and above) is growing because a lot of people are getting into working out and staying fit but that is for the social part where you have people who aren’t going to necessarily use the sport as a profession or even (gaining) admission to college.

“In order for sports to be a part of our society, we need to have sports be part of the kids growing up so we are not looking at just social players…that’s we are embarking on the Street Tennis Program which is mainly for kids and teenagers” she said.
