The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has responded to Nsoatreman FC’s sudden withdrawal from the ongoing Premier League, stating that the appropriate disciplinary processes that forfeit upcoming Nsoatreman games and hand all three points to the opposing team in accordance with the competition’s regulations, have been activated.

In a letter dated March 14, 2025, and signed by the Club President, Nsoatreman FC announced their decision to pull out of the league, citing “safety concerns over the security and wellbeing of our players” following recent matches against Asante Kotoko SC and FC Samartex 1996.

The GFA confirmed receipt of the letter and disclosed that it had made several attempts to engage the club on the issue without success.

Statement of withdrawal from Nsoatreman Fc

“We’ve had a number of engagements with the club on the subject matter without success,” the Association said in an official statement.

As a result, the GFA has triggered the disciplinary process, referring the matter to the GFA Prosecutor and applying Article 13(5) of the Premier League Regulations.

“We’ve activated the appropriate provisions in the competition regulations relating to the matter,” the GFA added.

Nsoatreman FC who were FA CUP Champions last year now 15th place

Article 13(5) of the Regulations states:

“Where a club withdraws from the league after it has started, any match which that club is scheduled to play shall be considered forfeited and accordingly, three (3) points and three (3) goals shall be awarded in favour of the opposing club.”

This means that for the remainder of the season, all scheduled opponents of Nsoatreman FC will automatically be awarded three points and three goals on the league table.

The turmoil began on March 9, 2025, during a league match between Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko SC in Nsoatre, where popular Nsoatreman supporter Pooley was allegedly stabbed and later died.

The incident led the GFA to suspend the league temporarily for investigations and a safety review.

Tensions grew after Nsoatreman’s next game against FC Samartex 1996, prompting the club to cite escalating safety concerns and withdraw from the league, calling the situation untenable.
