In an exciting new chapter for golf in Ghana, Guinness Ghana proudly announces the launch of the Johnnie Walker Annual Ghana Golf Championship, a prestigious new event set to take place at the renowned Achimota Golf Club on May 30th-31st, 2025.
This landmark event celebrates the spirit of Johnnie Walker, a brand renowned for its legacy of craftsmanship and commitment to progress, marking the beginning of a premium golfing experience in Ghana.
Led by Johnnie Walker, the world’s No.1 premium Scotch whisky, the official launch of the Johnnie Walker Annual Ghana Golf Championship, was marked with a symbolic tee-off ceremony, signaling the beginning of this notable annual event. Graced by distinguished stakeholders, including Capt. (Rtd.) Prince Kofi Amoabeng, Dr. Frank Adu Jnr. President of Achimota Golf Club and Rodney Oddoye, Honorary Treasurer of Ghana Golf Association along with key representatives from Guinness Ghana.

Speaking at the launch, Estella Muzito, Marketing and Communications Director of Guinness Ghana, emphasised that this initiative had been in the works for some time.
Actually, we are the number one Scotch whisky in the world and our biggest consumers are golfers. The people who can really afford and appreciate this brand are golfers, and while we’ve been partnering with some golf tournaments, we felt the time had come to create something of our own.
The launch event drew several notable personalities, including Retired Captain Prince Kofi Amoabeng, founder of the defunct UT Bank and icon of the Johnny Walker Brand, Mr. Frank Adu Jr., President of the Achimota Golf Club, and Mr. Leonard Kweku Okyere, President of the Ghana Golf Association.

Following Estella’s comment, Mr. Felix Elvis Addo, Board-Chairman of Guinness Ghana, shared his excitement:

The championship will feature competitive play across standard handicap divisions, including:
- Men’s Category A (0–12)
- Men’s Category B (13–24)
- Women’s Category A (0–15)
- Women’s Category B (16–28)
- Seniors (Above 60 years both Men and Women)

Winners will be recognized across all divisions, with exclusive prizes and brand experiences awarded to top performers, reinforcing the championship’s commitment to rewarding excellence and sportsmanship at every level.
