Basake Holy Stars head coach Abdulai Gazale has stated that a switch in tactics got his team a much needed win over Berekum Chelsea.
Holy Stars beat Berekum Chelsea 2-1 in the Ghana Premier League that ended the team’s terrible run that had the league debutants win just a game in nine league outings.
Basake’s sole win was against Nsoatreman FC via forfeiture since the latter has abandoned competing in the league. The original result had Holy Stars miss out on a win.
Speaking after beating Chelsea in a post-game interview, Gazale stated that the switch in tactics was the trick behind the win.
“It feels good because we have lost so many matches and today I decided to change tactics from the usual 4-2-3-1 system to 3-4-3 with an orientation of having floating full backs in the middle and at the same time at our wings.”

“Generally we have done well because we have been struggling to win matches of late but the most important thing is to get the three points which we have. Hoping we can continue to pick points so that we will move away from where we are lying.”
Basake Holy Stars rank 12th in the 18 team league standings after the win.
