Acting Director General of the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), Abraham Amaliba, says his outfit has partnered with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to offer free road safety training and sensitisation under a new initiative dubbed the “Stay Alive” campaign.

The announcement comes as the Easter holidays begin, a period known for increased travel and heightened road risks.

STAY ALIVE CAMPAIGN

Speaking in an exclusive interview with citisports at a ceremony organized by the GFA to present eight brand-new Nissan Navara pick-up vehicles to its Regional Football Associations (RFAs) under the FIFA Forward programme, Mr. Amaliba explained that the collaboration aims to instill a culture of safety within the football ecosystem.

Because these are vehicles which are donated to them ,it falls squarely within my mandate to advise the drivers who are going on use the vehicle. “

“It is about observing road safety measures ,it is about engaging in what is called defensive driving “

We don’t want to hear one of these vehicles ,less than a year gotten involved in an accident .
That is why I have offered my organisations assistance that we could provide them with driver sensitisation and driver training, so that they will be well equipped and we don’t have to find out that that this vehicle in less than a year have been involved in an accident .

We are already partners , we and the GFA are partners in what is called the “Stay Alive” campaign .
And we think that it is within our mandate to provide them with services for driver education and sensitisation.

I have thrown my request to them . We have offices in all the regions who can provide those training .

Mr. Amaliba used the opportunity to caution all road users, particularly those involved in football-related activities, to stay alert, obey road signs, and prioritize life over speed.

The campaign is part of broader efforts by the NRSA to reduce road accidents and fatalities during festive periods and beyond.
