Ghanaian musician King Promise was the toast of Rwandan Basketball side Armee Patriotique Rwandaise (APR) after the team bagged its first win in the Basketball Africa League (BAL).

Playing in front of a raucous home crowd at the BK Arena in Kigali, APR run out with a 92-63 win over Kenya’s Nairobi City Thunder.

APR’s big win was registered in its opening game in the 2025 BAL Nile Conference in the group phase of the competition. In the other game in the conference, Libya’s Alahi Tripoli beat South Africa’s Made By Basketball 87-77.

The top two ranked teams at the end of a round robin format of games progress automatically to the Playoffs stage of the continental tournament.

APR celebrated its big win in their locker room with the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA’s) Artiste of the Year King Promise by joining the talented musician dance to his hit song “Terminator”. King Promise had performed the song earlier during the game’s Halftime Show.
