Chief Executive Officer of Bibiani Gold Stars, Akwasi Adu, has praised the resilience and dedication of club financiers in the Ghana Premier League (GPL), likening their efforts to that of “magicians” as they strive to keep their teams running despite ongoing financial difficulties.
His comments come at a time when the 2024/25 GPL season is progressing without a headline sponsor or high level financial backing.

In an exclusive interview with Citi Sports, Adu expressed admiration for the behind-the-scenes efforts made by club managers and financiers to ensure fixtures are honored each week.

I should say this on behalf of all 18 Premier League clubs ; the managers and financiers , they are magicians. Traveling across all regional boundaries without a sponsor is very difficult. We are all hoping to resolve this situation as quickly as possible” Adu stated.
Adu also confirmed that Bibiani Gold Stars are actively seeking a sponsorship deal ahead of next season, as the team continues its impressive run in the current campaign. The club currently sits at the top of the GPL table with 54 points.

“The competitive nature of this year’s title race despite the challenges should attract potential sponsors. We hope this will be a turning point for local football.”
With four games remaining in the season, Gold Stars rank second in the league with 53 points and a point separates them from league leaders Nations FC ahead of a crucial tie against fellow title contender Kumasi Asante Kotoko on Sunday, May 25.
