Nations Football Club have extended their lead atop the 2024-2025 Ghana Premier League standings with two games left to play.

The Kumasi based club beat defending league champions FC Samartex 3-0 at the Kwame Kyei Sports Complex to take a three point lead in the standings.

Nations’ quest to win its first ever league title got a boost when fellow Kumasi based side Asante Kotoko, drew goalless with Bibiani Gold Stars in a very closely fought encounter.

Kelvin Ampoful, Faisal Charwetey and Emmanuel Annor scored in the 82nd, 75th and 60th minute respectively for Nations FC in the win. Charwetey’s goal came from the penalty spot.

Annor’s goal marked his second in a row after getting hit with a fine by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for displaying a religious message after scoring in a 2-0 win over Kotoko.
