Nations Football Club head coach Kassim Mingle has stated that forcing Accra Lions to play “uncharacteristic” football played a key role in his team’s win over Accra Lions.
Nations beat Lions 1-0 in the Ghana Premier League to go top of the league standings with 54 points with the winning goal, coming from Sadiq Alhassan in the 63rd minute.
Speaking on the game, Kassim Mingle spoke extensively about the game plan his team used to beat the Lions team that is battling to stay in the league.
“They keep the ball…we forced them to kick the ball long and that style of play, they are not used to it so our defenders were comfortable with it so they couldn’t play the way they’ve been playing against other teams. We forced them to be kicking the long balls because they have speedsters up front and out defenders have the speed so they were able to contain them.”

Nations have four games left to play in the campaign and take on 17th ranked Legon Cities next on May 18.
