Former Chairman of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club, Herbert Mensah, has called on sports leaders particularly those in football to do the right things to ensure that Ghana’s talents are harnessed well.

He made this call in his speech after accepting the Living Legend Award at the 2025 Ghana Football Awards; the renowned football administrator was one of three football personalities to win the award.

Former Accra Hearts of Oak Chairman Harry Zakkour and celebrated journalist Ken Bediako were the other recipients of the prestigious award.

In his speech, Herbert Mensah, who is the President of World Rugby’s African Association, stated that Ghana is talented to be mediocre in sports.

“Your award ceremony should serve as motivation for people to start to do the right thing. We have too much talent for Ghana to be a mediocrity.”

“The citation is not for me, it’s for the people who travel the journey…but importantly, to the people who take the decisions to do the right thing” he said.
