Former Black Stars coach Charles Kwabla Akonnor has expressed satisfaction with Otto Addo’s recent demeanour, despite widespread criticism from Ghanaians over the team’s failure to qualify for the AFCON in Morocco.
This marks the first time in 20 years that Ghana will not feature among the 24 teams at the tournament.
Drawing from his own experience of coaching under intense pressure, Akonnor has come to Addo’s defence, noting that the current coach appears relieved and confident following an impressive start in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, where the Black Stars are performing strongly.
“Otto Addo went through some difficult moments, but clearly you can see that he is now very calm, his body language has changed” – C.K. Akonnor
