Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey’s time at Arsenal Football Club is all but over with his contract ending on June 30 before he becomes a free agent starting from July 1, 2026.
According to football insider David Ornstein, Partey and Arsenal couldn’t agree on the details of a new contract prompting Partey’s impending departure.
Partey has been with Arsenal for five seasons after moving from Spanish League side Atletico Madrid; the 32 year old impressed with Diego Simeone’s team winning the league title, Europa League and UEFA Super Cup.
Fabrizio Romano, celebrated Italian football insider, stated on his X (formerly Twitter) page that Arsenal have agreed to sign Brentford midfielder Christian Norgaard in a subsequent move to Partey’s exit.

Despite producing easily his best campaign in the last year of his contract and both parties expressing willingness to work with each other, differences in finances led to a breakdown in negotiations.

Partey is reportedly a target for Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and a couple of Saudi Pro League teams as his possible next destination.

The 32 year old recently won the Footballer of the Year Award for the third time at the Ghana Football Awards and has played a key role in putting Ghana in an excellent position to qualify to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
