Newcastle United are set to commence their pre-season tour in Singapore and South Korea as the team prepares for the upcoming season that has the Magpies returning to compete in the UEFA Champions League.
However, Newcastle’s travelling contingent to Asia has a big absentee as Swedish striker Alexander Isak is not part of the 30 man group.
According to the club, Isak is dealing with a minor thigh injury but his absence has stirred more controversy as he continues to court serious interest from Liverpool.
Reigning English Premier League champions Liverpool recently signed French striker Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt but reports suggest the Reds are still interested in signing Isak who has competed in the EPL for the past three seasons.

According to Italian football insider Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are ready to bid for Isak once they are able to complete winger Luis Diaz’s sale to German side Bayern Munich. Romano has since communicated that Alexander Isak want to explore options in the transfer market.

26 year old Isak scored 27 goals in 42 games in all competitions last season and helped Newcastle win the Carabao Cup- the triumph was Newcastle’s first domestic trophy in 70 years.
