Former President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), Ben Nunoo Mensah, has been appointed to the newly reconstituted Board of Directors of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR).

The appointment was confirmed during an official ceremony led by the Minister of Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, who represented President John Dramani Mahama. The board has been tasked with the critical responsibility of reviving the operations of TOR and restoring its strategic role in Ghana’s energy landscape.

Nunoo Mensah, while widely recognised for his achievements in sports administration, brings a track record of institutional reform, transparency, and innovation. His inclusion is seen as part of a broader effort to inject capable leadership into key national institutions.

As the refinery works to regain operational capacity and financial stability, the board is expected to produce a clear recovery plan that addresses both short-term operational issues and long-term strategic goals to strengthen Ghana’s energy security.
