Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club striker Kwame Opoku has stated that he had absolutely no doubt he would score from the penalty spot in the final minutes of the 2025 MTN FA Cup Final to clinch the title for the Porcupine Warriors.

Opoku scored a penalty with an audacious kick in added on time to seal a 2-1 win for Kotoko over Golden Kick at the University of Ghana Stadium to win the title.

The title win secured Kotoko’s qualification to the CAF Confederation Cup and in an interview with Kotoko media, Opoku said that he didn’t even think of what would happen if he missed.

“Every Kotoko penalty means a lot. I knew that if I don’t score, it would be a different issue but that one I didn’t have it in mind because I knew definitely [that] we were going to win the trophy so even if I missed I knew we were going to win the trophy so I wasn’t having that in mind” Opoku said.

Opoku’s return to Kotoko midway through the 2024-2025 season was successful as he scored nine goals and added two assists in 17 games in the Ghana Premier League.

His fine run also led to return to the Black Stars where the 26 year old was part of the team that competed in the Unity Cup.
